JobSummary:

Tosupport Finance function in its budgeting setting Ideally publicsectorexperience.

Provide highlevel strategic financial advice in liaison with senior financecolleagues and servicemanagers.

Provide adviceand financial input into the Council s financial planning processesincluding input and guidance into business plans and serviceimprovement reviews under the direction of senior financecolleagues utilising financial modelling options appraisal and riskanalysis tools and techniques asappropriate.

KeyDuties/Accountabilities

Tobe responsible for delivering a first class value for moneyfinancial service that meets the legal financial and Council aimsand objectives to meet our customer requirements in accordance withFinance and Contract ProcedureRules.

Todeputise in the absence of or in place of the Deputy Head ofFinance/Head of Finance or other managers wherenecessary

Toprovide high quality financial information to senior management upto and including Executive Directors to allowdecisionmaking.

Topresent financial information to a range of audiences includingcontentious information to Scrutiny panels and other publicmeetings.

Torepresent Walsall Council at regional meetings and on regionalprojects asappropriate

Toeffectively manage yourself and the staff for which you areresponsible including ensuring at all times thefollowing

Writtenprocedures for all team roles are prepared andmonitored

Deadlines areeffectively managed prioritised andmet

Adequate staffcover to ensure maintenance of an effective finance service bothwithin the team and across the finance service whereappropriate

Resources aimsobjectives and priorities aremet

Performance ismaintained managed and reported in line with EPAguidelines

Serviceimprovement change management and process developments areimplemented provide lead support to the Council s Transformationprogramme.

EssentialExperienceRequired:

Experience ofmanagement accounting isessential.

Experience ofbudget setting techniques and processes isessential.

Experience ofworking with a variety of different stakeholders (preferably in apolitical environment) isessential.

Experience ofproviding accountancy services within a large isessential.

EssentialQualificationRequired:

Member of CIMAor CCAB body with significant post qualification experience andundertaking active CPD or evidence of continuous professionaldevelopment isessential.

Additionalinformation tonote:

Working hours:37 hours perweek.

The role isHybrid with 23 days in the office while training 1 2 days in theoffice once training iscomplete.
