Commis Chef This is a great opportunity to join our team of experienced chefs who are responsible for creating innovative, nutritious food that is healthy and tastes great.If you’re looking to take the next step in your career in catering you’ll be pleased to know that at Ragdale we use fresh produce and most of our food is prepared in-house including ice creams, sorbets, breads, stocks and sauces. You’ll be working in a professional environment where you’ll be given the opportunity and support to improve your skills and progress.Our award-winning spa delivers exceptional cuisine to roughly 200 guests per day so the ideal candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and have a passion for food Duties will include: Preparing meal ingredients, which includes seasoning of different meats as well as washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables and fruits. Preparing basic salads and sauces as directed by the senior chefs. Receiving deliveries and verifying that all ordered items have been delivered and are of good quality. Taking inventory of restaurant supplies and notifying the supervisor of low or depleted supplies. Discarding all expired and spoiled food items stored in the stock rooms, refrigerators, and freezers. Performing basic cleaning duties and ensuring that work stations are properly sanitized. Plating and presenting meal items as per the senior chefs instructions. Qualifications and skills required: NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in food preparation or professional cookery and Level 2 Hygiene is desirable Hours of work: 39 hours per week worked on a rota basis between the hours of 6.00 am and 10 pm including some weekends Salary: £24,417.12 per annum Perks  Up to £1400 per year in tips (full-time equivalent) On-the-job training opportunities Free meals on duty Free parking on site Free transport from Melton Mowbray and Asfordby Use of gymnasium, exercise classes and areas of the Spa Discounts in all retail outlets at Ragdale Discounts on beauty treatments, meals in our Dining Room and other food and drinks Discounts for you, your family and friends to visit (Ts&Cs apply) And lots more - for more information, please see our website.
