Job summary

This role is a facilitator within the Positive Engagement Team, the job holder will be responsible for the effective delivery of all physical intervention training and its theory components Trust wide, supported by the PET Specialist Advisor (Deputy Anti-Crime advisor). They will support in accordance with accepted standards of practice and in line with ULHT pre-determined learning objectives in designing, implementing and evaluating physical intervention training programmes for clinical staff across the Trust.

The post holder will support the Security Management department in representing the Trust in reducing restrictive physical interventions through therapeutic methods, both internally as well as externally where appropriate, and upholding and promoting the Trust's values and ethos. The post holder will be expected to support the development of practice-based knowledge and skills in this specialist area and contribute to research and audit where required.

The holder will ensure that ULHT meets its legislative requirements, HSE standards and CQC standards for a secure environment and safe practices relative to staff, patients and other users of Trust premises.

The post holder will assist in reducing Violence and Aggression within the trust and support managers by providing appropriate training, guidance and advice to managers to enable them to complete pro-active security risk assessment.

Main duties of the job

To work within the United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust as a facilitator across all clinical and all Trust sites, supporting patient and staff safety within the Positive Engagement team. To promote a philosophy throughout the organisation of empowerment and least restrictive practice in line with the Trusts vision, values and goals. Similarly, in accordance with best practice from both a legal and ethical perspective

Advise and offer guidance regarding the appropriate safer actions for staff in relation to individual patients in clinical areas. This may include direct engagement with patients displaying challenging behaviour by responding or advising on incidents across the trust

Support clinical staff who have been physically assaulted in the working environment and advise on cases where assaults have some element of clinical causation. This includes making contact with staff who have been assaulted, ensuring they have been signposted to appropriate support ( Police, Occ Health) Review staff's experience of the incident & training needs

To deliver of a range of training events and activities in accordance with accepted standards of practice and in line with pre-determined learning objectives

Essential

Ability to travel to different sites across the area delivering training Ability to undertake and demonstrate physical skills in clinical holding and restraint

Knowledge, Skills and Aptitude

Essential

Working knowledge of education preferably as part of a health care organisation and a work based learning ethos Understanding of relevant legislation and regulatory guidance in relation to restraint reduction and Violence prevention and reduction Able to make judgements on suitability of resources and training for learners needs Able to act with integrity, sensitivity and patience Proactive and professional solution focused attitude Maintaining concentration for periods of time Able to build effective relationships with people Inclusive of all staff and service users/patients

Desirable

Portfolio of evidence for the teaching and learning/education facilitation, especially in relation to restraint reduction and security related matters Experience of corporate education such as induction, statutory and mandatory training Experience of designing and delivering high quality training to small and large groups Experience of updating and creating digital learning such as updating webpages

Experience

Essential

Experience of Restraint reduction and security management from working in a large, complex organisation over multiple sites, preferably within a healthcare setting.

Desirable

Experience of Security and safety management function in the NHS environment

Qualification

Essential

oKnowledge of security and anti crime policies, procedures and practices; acquired through specialist training in security and management plus significant experience in the security industry to degree equivalent level Current Driving Licence
