Role Overview for the Prototype Technician
As an Prototype Technician, you will support the assembly of instruments and prototypes while working closely with the NPI and design teams. This is an ideal opportunity for someone currently in a production role looking to transition into R&;D or engineering.
Key Responsibilities for the Prototype Technician
- Collaborate with R&;D and NPI teams to assemble and maintain prototypes.
- Contribute to assembly and service documentation.
- Assist in the assembly and optimisation of first prototypes in coordination with Design and NPI Engineers.
- Support the NPI team.
- Participate in testing, validation, and documentation for various development strands.
- Provide technical input during reviews and risk assessments.
Candidate Profile for the Prototype Technician
- Hands-on experience with electro-mechanical products, assembly, and testing.
- Familiarity with sensors for measurement and relevant tools/technologies.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with attention to detail for validating prototypes.
- Knowledge of MRP systems, BOM accuracy, and ESD precautions.
- Experience in a factory environment or technical development setting is essential.
Preferred Skills &; Experience of Prototype Technician
- Understanding of electro-mechanical products and health &; safety requirements.
- CAD knowledge is beneficial but not essential.
- Proficiency in MS Office and experience creating technical documents.
- Experience capturing images for assembly instructions and service bulletins.
