Job summary

We are looking to recruit a suitably qualified Clinical Psychologist/Practitioner Psychologist to our Adult Acute Mental Health Psychology Service. This post will be based at the Ablett Unit at Glan Clwyd Hospital and is a permanent position at band 8a.

Whilst this post is full time, we will consider applications from candidates looking at part-time/ job share arrangements. We would also encourage potential candidates who might only be about to qualify or are recently qualified, to get in touch via email, if they have particular interest and desire to work as a psychologist in acute mental health.

Main duties of the job

The roles offer an exciting opportunity to taking a leading role in developing psychologically informed services in an acute mental health inpatient unit, working as part of an MDT supporting people with acute, complex, and diverse needs. The post holders will be expected to integrate well and co-work with a range of professionals from both ward teams, and visiting community staff, providing specialist psychological knowledge and expertise throughout the acute care pathway. As well as providing direct clinical input to clients, this will also involve working through others by training, supervision, and formulation.

Supervision and support will be provided by the full time Strategic Lead Consultant Psychologist for the acute mental health psychology service. You will also form part of a growing team of psychologists working across acute settings in North Wales, a team that stresses the importance of peer support and connection at work.
