Knowledge and Expertise
Essential criteria
Experience in the management of high risk patients Evidence of higher training or equivalent in obstetric anaesthesia, paediatric anaesthesia and anaesthesia for airway surgery to cover NPH on calls.
Desirable criteria
Formal teaching/training related qualifications or accreditation Formal qualification in business skills
Management and Audit
Essential criteria
Understanding the principles of clinical governance and its implications. Leadership skills. Knowledge of finance/budgets. Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively. Ability to motivate and develop the multi-disciplinary team. IT skills and computer literacy. Understanding and experience of audit
Desirable criteria
Management qualification or current study towards management qualification. Evidence of service audit, design or change management
Qualifications and Experience
Essential criteria
Completion of specialist training programme in anaesthesia or equivalent (CCT/CESR) FRCA or equivalent . SIA (Special Interest Area) or equivalent Fellowship or equivalent proven capabilities in relevant area of expertise for post being applied for
Desirable criteria
SIA/fellowship in perioperative medicine, Prehabilitation, CPET qualification. NHS experience within the last 3 years. Experience as a Locum Consultant at an acute hospital. Experience in acute management of critically ill children. Evidence of service audit, design or change management.
Registration
Essential criteria
Candidate should be on the GMC Specialist Register for Anaesthesia (CCT/CESR) or, if UK trainee, within 6 months of CCT at time of interview.
Teaching
Essential criteria
Stage 3 or equivalent level of training in Education and Training (including has met requirements to be a clinical supervisor). Experience in teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates and junior medical staff.
