About Whitemoor NTMRC

Whitemoor NTMRC is the biggest of Network Rails three facilities that receive, process, and recycle track products. The other two sites are Crewe and Westbury. Covering 40 hectares of formerly derelict railway land in Cambridgeshire, the NTMRC receives around half of the used track material collected from across the rail network, either from lineside clearances or track replacement works. When material arrives, our state-of-the-art machinery sorts product into what can and cannot be used again, ensuring that any reusable goods are recycled and re-sold. Products recycled at Whitemoor include Railway Track, Sleepers, Aggregate and Switches and Crossings (S&C).

The S&C Facility

The S&C facility at Whitemoor is a purpose-built facility for the refurbishment and recycling of Switches and Crossings. The facility also holds a vast stock of all the high-volume Switches, Crossings and Baseplates used across the rail network. This ensures that Network Rail can not only respond quickly to the needs of our customers but also generate revenue and save money.
