Job Overview
As part of LPT's Step Up to Great strategy we have an exciting opportunity within our Planned and Urgent Care Pathways for a motivated and passionate Registered Mental Health Nurse to join our Clinical and Professional Development Team as Practice Development Nurse.
This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to develop their professional skills and expertise in all areas of Practice Development by working closely with our pathway Matrons.
The Urgent Care Pathway is at the forefront of patient care and treatment for those presenting with a mental health crisis. It’s primary aim is to ensure that patients are able to access timely and effective mental health triage no matter where or when they present to services in line with NHS England’s Long Term Plan. Staffed on a 24hour basis, services include:
Criminal Justice Liaison and Diversion
Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team
Mental Health Central Access Point
Mental Health Liaison Service
Mental Health Response Vehicle
Mental Health Urgent Care Hub
Op Community (Veterans)
Place of Safety Assessment Unit
As PDN for this pathway, you will have the opportunity to work within a dynamic and innovative team towards improving the quality and safety of care delivered for our patients and carers alike. The right candidate will be highly motivated, able to work autonomously and within a team and be passionate about having an influence on the delivery of high quality patient care.
The plan is for the PDN to be directly managed by one of the matrons of those teams.
The right candidate must be highly and self-motivated and able to work autonomously with some guidance from the matrons.
Job Description Summary (Main duties and responsibilities)
The Role:

You will need to demonstrate passion and commitment for leading on the delivery of high clinical standards and training, as well as possessing enthusiasm with motivation skills to develop the nursing team.
Develop the objectives and standards of clinical practice required to support the aims of the service and establish systems to enable future monitoring / audit and to provide assurance.
You will be a visible, accessible point of contact for staff, coordinating and leading on an agreed portfolio of responsibility within the directorate, which will include continual education and development of the staff group.
Be expected to use professional clinical expertise to analyse and assess a wide range of data and qualitative information from across the directorate to establish current standards of clinical practice.
