Oracle Exadata DBA

Position: Oracle ExadataDBA
Location: Washington DC (Onlyconsidering candidates local to the DMV area: DC MD VA)
Verification: Candidatesmust be able to meet in person in Fairfax VA forverification. Objective:

The Oracle Cloud Exadata Administrator is responsible formanaging Oracle Exadata environments within Oracle CloudInfrastructure (OCI) utilizing OCI Command Line tools andimplementing DevOps practices to maintain system efficiency andsecurity.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Database Management:

• Install configure and maintain Oracle Exadatadatabases.
• Ensure high availability andoptimal performance of Oracle databases.
• Manage database security including user access andencryption.

CloudOperations:

• Utilize OCI tomanage cloud resources effectively.
• Automateroutine database administrative tasks using OCI Command LineInterface (CLI) and scripts.
• Monitor andoptimize cloud resource performance ensuring costefficiency.

OCI ExadataPatching Activities:

• Schedule and implement regular OCI Exadata patching inline with Oracles release schedule.
• Testpatches in a nonproduction environment before widespreaddeployment.
• Coordinate with IT and networkteams to ensure minimal downtime and compliance withSLAs.
• Document patching activities includingprepatching checks impact analysis patch application andpostpatching tests.

DevOpsIntegration:

• Develop andmaintain CI/CD pipelines for database code and schemachanges.
• Work closely with development teamsto integrate database operations with overall DevOpsworkflows.
• Utilize modern containerization andorchestration technologies to enhance scalability andmanageability.

Backup andRecovery on OCI:

• Implementand manage comprehensive backup procedures for all databasesystems.
• Regularly test recovery processes toensure data integrity and availability.
• Optimize backup operations using OCI features and toolsto ensure data redundancy and quick accessibility.

Disaster Recovery and Oracle DataGuard:

• Develop andmaintain a disaster recovery plan including Oracle Data Guard forrealtime data protection and failover capabilities.
• Configure and manage Data Guard to ensure highavailability and disaster recovery across different geographicallocations.
• Conduct regular DR drills to ensurethe effectiveness of disaster recovery procedures.

ProjectManagement:

• Lead planningand execution of database upgrade and migrationprojects.
• Communicate effectively with projectstakeholders providing updates and resolving issuespromptly.
• Prepare and maintain comprehensivedocumentation for all managed systems and procedures.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science InformationTechnology or a related field.
• Extensiveexperience as an Oracle Exadata Administrator.
• Strong proficiency with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure andOCI Command Line Interface.
• Demonstratedexperience with patch management processes and best practices forOracle Exadata.
• Familiarity with DevOps tools(e.g. Jenkins Git Azure DevOps) and methodologies.
• Relevant certifications in Oracle Database and OracleCloud Infrastructure are highly desirable.

• Local Requirement: Candidates must belocal to the Washington DC Maryland or Virginia area. Being localis a HARD requirement.
• Verification: Candidates must be ableto meet in person in Fairfax VA for verification to be consideredfor submission.
