Job Duties:
  • Deliver English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) instruction to Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC)
  • Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to the needs of UASC learners
  • Assess students' language proficiency and progress regularly
  • Provide additional support and guidance to students as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance
  • Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure the effectiveness of the ESOL programme
Required Qualifications:
  • Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, CELTA, TESOL)
  • Experience in teaching ESOL to diverse student groups
  • Understanding of the specific challenges faced by UASC learners
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs
Education:

Bachelor's degree in Education, English, or a related field

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching ESOL

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of ESOL teaching methodologies and best practises
  • Ability to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Fluency in English and knowledge of other languages is advantageous
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with UASC or refugee populations
  • Additional qualifications in Special Education or Multicultural Education
Working Conditions:

The UASC ESOL Tutor role involves working in a classroom or home setting with UASC learners.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
