We are looking to recruit experienced, highly motivated, dynamic, innovative and professional individuals as Lead Ultrasound Practitioners for a large multi disciplinary team.

The post holder will Professionally lead Sonographers, Trainees and Imaging Department Assistants, you must be enthusiastic and committed to delivering an effective , efficient and quality service.

You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to provide leadership for the team and work closely with the Operational Management team in ensuring work flows are optimally maintained at all times .

You must have a flexible approach to working and a desire to further develop the ultrasound service. You should hold a CASE accredited qualification with extensive clinical experience.

They must be able to demonstrate experience of :

Advanced Clinical or expert practice Leadership experience with the ability to work as part of a team Participation in teaching and mentoring students Management of people and resources Quality Improvement initiatives - Research and Audit

The Imaging Department provides General Medical ultrasound services across multiple sites . However, these are managed and supported operationally from the Royal Stoke site.

We are a large modern department with a variety of equipment. We are a fast paced, dynamic and vibrant department with an interesting and challenging case load.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of a team of lead Practitioners accountable for professionally developing a large team of Advanced Practitioners , Trainees and Imaging Department Assistants and supporting the operational management team.

Main Tasks:

Independently perform and report a broad range of clinical ultrasound examinations

Provide an expert level of knowledge and the highest degree of professional autonomy

Maintain workflows, managing staffing and equipment accordingly.

Ensure QA and policy review are undertaken

Promote & participate in audit

Participate in ultrasound team meetings and clinical multidisciplinary meetings as required.

Develop innovative practice and identify where service improvements can be made

Participate in the Trust appraisal process

Deliver clinical education in conjunction with Education Leads .

Prioritise a number of complex activities at any one time to react to the demands of the service .

Fulfil requirements for statutory regulations, codes of practice, local policies and departmental health and safety rules are adhered to

Participate in risk management through the Datix system

Respond to enquiries from patient satisfaction teams

General Ultrasound provides out-patient services and supports our busy acute in patient portals, plus a variety of sub speciality scanning including, vascular, paediatric, MSK and Head and Neck.
