Job Summary
The Specialist Operations (SO) Business Group is a part of the wider MPS and hosts six Operational Command Units (OCUs), including Counter-Terrorism Policing HQ (CTPHQ) and Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection (PaDP). In light of the events of / and their implication for the SO Business Group, it is paramount that Met’s CD&I activity is coordinated, delivered and managed by a dedicated SO CD&I Manager.
The post-holder will be employed by CTPHQ but will work as an ‘embed’ within the Met CD&I Directorate on behalf of the SO Business Group. This position is the first of its kind and the post-holder will have the opportunity to develop the role as CD&I activity progresses within SO and the wider MPS.
Responsibilities
The jobholder will;
Coordinate and drive progress against the New Met for London CD&I commitments for the SO Business Group, including management of the core dataset and progress against related action plans. Provide specialist IDE advice and guidance to colleagues of all ranks and bands working on CD&I across the six OCUs, and the wider MPS as required. Act as the Tactical Lead for the SO CD&I Board, supporting the Chair in driving the Business Group’s progress against the CD&I objectives and maintaining momentum in between the meetings. Meet regularly with OCU IDE Leads and Commanders to support progress against local action plans and unblock any barriers to achieving IDE objectives. Critically assess internal policies and processes, making recommendations for IDE improvements or positive action, to bring about positive culture change within the Business Group and wider MPS. Provide ad-hoc support and guidance to colleagues as required, applying external best practice and internal context to effectively advise. Implement CD&I insights developed by the wider Directorate into measurable action. Develop and deliver training and briefing sessions to colleagues of all ranks/bands on topics related to IDE, contextualising for local business areas when required. Embed innovative solutions to improve the talent pipeline into the Business Group, to attract high quality candidates, maximise recruitment and development pathways, to improve overall representation within SO.How to Apply
