Our vibrant secondary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Leigh, Wigan, is currently seeking a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of our students with challenging behavior.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide tailored one-on-one and small group support to students with diverse behavioral needs, helping them to engage with their learning and reach their full potential.
  2. Collaborate closely with teachers and external professionals to develop and implement personalized behavior management plans, ensuring a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  3. Foster positive relationships with students, building trust and rapport to facilitate their academic and personal growth.
  4. Implement de-escalation techniques and strategies to support students during challenging situations, promoting self-regulation and emotional resilience.
  5. Act as a positive role model for students, demonstrating empathy, patience, and understanding in all interactions.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with young people with challenging behavior, either within a PRU or similar setting, is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with students, colleagues, and external agencies.
  • Resilience, adaptability, and a proactive approach to managing challenging situations, with a focus on promoting positive behavior and resilience.
  • A genuine passion for supporting the educational and personal development of young people facing adversity, empowering them to overcome barriers and achieve success.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
