JOB DESCRIPTION

Are you a recently qualified general practice surveyor looking for a new opportunity? Or do you want to complete your APC qualifications alongside a role providing great experience? Would you like to work in a fun and exciting industry?


We are recruiting an estates surveyor to join our team and support the property director and head of projects with the day-to-day management and development of the company’s property portfolio - both operational and non-operational estate. Our operational sites range in size, from 6,000sq ft to over 50,000sq ft plus a large multi-use leisure complex in the Midlands. The role offers variety and provides a good base for the right person to develop their property skills and knowledge. The position will be based one to two days a week in the company’s office just outside Birmingham with travel as required around the UK.

Key skills and responsibilities include:

  • Managing the sub-let estate and the leasehold estate – including business rates, service charges, rent reviews, and liaising with landlords on any building issues.
  • Being the subject matter expert about relevant property legislation and supporting the operations directors and general managers where required on property-related matters.
  • Assisting with relocation sites including the research of areas and liaising with property agents.
  • Working with retained property agents to lease vacant properties around the country.
  • Assisting with the asset management and further development of a large mixed-use leisure scheme in the Midlands.
  • Assisting the projects/development team with refurbishment projects.
  • Assisting the maintenance manager with third-party landlord or tenant issues.
  • Assisting with Planning matters using external consultants.
  • Supporting with planning matters using external consultants.
  • Some commercial property experience is required ideally in the retail, leisure and/or food and beverage sector.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate and develop relationships internally and externally with the likes of property agents and key stakeholders.
  • Good negotiation and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate decisions quickly and effectively for the overall business benefit.
  • Highly motivated, flexible and commercially focused team player able to work as part of a small team.
  • Able to work under pressure whilst retaining attention to detail.
  • Able to use Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe. AutoCAD experience would be advantageous.
