Job summary

Full time and part time hours will be considered.

A brand-new opportunity has been created for a highly motivated Nursing Associate who wants to make a difference to the lives of children, young people and their families in Stratford-upon-Avon by helping us deliver the Healthy Child Programme. The successful candidate will be a member of the School Health team and will have the option of working full time or part-time.

The role is to support a range of nursing activities to support children, young people and their families by offering age-appropriate information and advice on a range of health, lifestyle and behaviour related issues. Within your role you will be expected to assist the School Nurses and School Staff Nurses through actioning any referrals triaged and allocated to your caseload. In addition, the role involves working with children, young people, families and school staff to support those with long term medical conditions. Under indirect supervision, you will work autonomously with children and young people on a one to one and group basis and will use both face to face and virtual communication means. You will also deliver parent/carer workshops. The successful candidate will have advanced communication skills and experience of working with children, young people and families. You will be adept at maintaining discretion and confidentiality.

Main duties of the job

We will be offering the successful candidate a fantastic programme of support and development through our induction and preceptorship programme. You will continue to develop in your role through the acquisition of further skills, knowledge and competences. Our ideal candidate will be dedicated, highly motivated and committed to providing high standards of care to children, young people, families and communities. You will be working in a variety of community settings including schools and Children and Family Centres. You will be a registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register.

Qualifications

Essential

Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register Nursing Associate foundation degree qualification GCSE Grade A-C in Maths and English or skills level 2 in Maths and English or equivalent

Experience

Essential

Minimum of one year of post qualification experience of working with children, young people and families Delivery of health advice to children, young people and their families Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information Experience of communicating effectively (written, verbal and non-verbal)

Knowledge of child development and understanding behaviours. Be competent at using basic computer packages software packages such as Microsoft Office Appreciation of how to develop effective and appropriate relationships with children, young people, families and colleagues Ability to support, supervise, assess and act as a role model to nursing associate students, other learners, family brief intervention workers and health care support workers as required within settings Ability to organise and prioritise own delegated workload Ability to develop effective and appropriate relationships with children, young people, their families, carers and colleagues Ability to undertake the demands of the post with reasonable adjustments where required.
