The Orbital Analyst Operations Lead will haveexperience and expertise in operational collision avoidance, orbitdetermination, fragmentation and re-entry analysis across allorbital regimes and will be accountable for the quality of thetechnical services provided to the customer. Additionally, theOrbital Analyst Operations Lead will have the opportunity toprovide technical support to the customer and partner organisationson wider national and international SDA programmes as required andat the discretion of the Senior Orbital Analyst.

MainDuties

  • Manage andprovide clear direction and tasking to the operational OrbitalAnalyst team.
  • Assist in leading theintelligent tasking of sensor networks, maintenance of accuratecatalogues of resident space objects and compliance monitoring ofUK-licenced spacecraft
  • Conduct comprehensiveassessments of on orbit events and identify events requiringfurther analysis and/or escalation
  • Responsibility for timely andhigh-quality submission of regular customer reporting and adherenceto contract KPIs
  • Provide ad-hoc technicalassistance to the customer and partner organisations for ongoingand future projects

EssentialRequirements:

  • Professional experience in the spaceindustry with focus on Space Surveillance and Tracking (SST), SpaceSituational Awareness (SSA) and/or space systems with acomprehensive understanding of Space Weather, SSA and SST modellingand analysis.
  • Experienced in data analysis andthe development and utilisation of Space Surveillance and Tracking(SST) and Space Situational Awareness (SSA) analytical software andskilled in one or more of the following programming languages:Java, Python, C languages such as C/C++/C#, Fortran or MATLAB.
  • Understanding of software developmentlifecycles, workflow procedures and architectures to design,develop, test and validate bespoke SSA tools.
  • Excellent communication skills (written andoral), to articulate and communicate technical detail clearly andconcisely with colleagues, customers and partner organisations atall levels. Able to prepare detailed reports and present wherenecessary.
  • Effective time management andcapable of managing multiple work streams.
  • Acomprehensive understanding of mathematics, scientific processesand requirements.
  • Willing and eligible to holdSC security clearance and obtain DV clearance ifrequired.
  • Abachelor's degree in a relevant field (physics, mathematics,engineering or science).

Desirable:

  • Extensiveexperience in working in the SSA/SST space domain and expertise inconducting collision avoidance analysis, orbit determination,fragmentation and re-entry analysis in an operational setting.
  • Ability to develop and maintain complexoperational processes and requirements.
  • Capable of leading a team effectively andprofessionally to deliver results.
  • Confidentin providing technical demonstrations of capabilities to bothinternal and external parties.
  • A strong understanding ofcelestial mechanics, astrodynamics and atmospheric physics.
