Position

An opportunity has arisen for a Static Specialist Physiotherapist Stroke at Biggart Hospital.

What you will do:

You will be responsible for delivering highly skilled physiotherapy to patients in the respective clinical areas. You will act as a senior clinical decision maker, leading complex care and discharge planning and delivering rehabilitation to ensure patients are optimally rehabilitated and discharged effectively and efficiently. You will make onward referral to other services as required. Follow up visits into the community are an emerging aspect of work in this specialty. You will support the development of less experienced, unregistered staff and students within the team.

In turn, you will be supported to develop into the role and responsibilities of a Band 6 clinician as required.

You will be passionate about empowering patients to achieve their goals and to remain as independent and active as possible. Prior experience within stroke or neurological care is highly desired. Participation in service improvement is expected and encouraged. Contribution to the on-call physiotherapy service is a requirement of the post.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

Diploma/MSc/BSc in Physiotherapy Current Health Professions Council registration Proven clinical experience in relevant clinical specialty Evidence of continuing professional development

Hours:

37 per week

UK Driving Licence/Car Ownership:

UK Car licence/Car ownership is essential to this role.

From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

NHS Ayrshire and Arran will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer. If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week (pro rata for part-time staff) until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly. NHS Ayrshire and Arran is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so
