We have an exciting opportunity for a Sexual Health Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Stocken, a category C Prison located in Rutland.

Hours

The site currently offers a Monday-Friday 07:30-17:30 or 07:30-18:30

Saturday/Sunday/Bank Holidays 08:30-17:30

Salary

This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary up to 38,115 per annum - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Sexual Health Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will

Lead on promotion, assessment, and co-ordinating treatment for patients in all aspects of sexual health (plus contraception within female estate). Leading on preventative health, your key role will be ensuring effective and consistent recognition of STIs, symptomatic and asymptomatic screening, taking samples and managing laboratory pathways, Point of care testing, treating infections via PGDs.

Job responsibilities

As a Sexual Health Nurse, you will lead on promotion, assessment, andco-ordinating treatment for patients in all aspects of sexual health (plus contraceptionwithin female estate). Leading on preventative health, your key role will beensuring effective and consistent recognition of STIs, symptomatic and asymptomaticscreening, taking samples and managing laboratory pathways, Point of caretesting, treating infections via PGDs. Providing sound knowledge and skill in Tier 1 & 2 Sexual Healthservices which will support patients to make informed choices about theirhealth and wellbeing. Working in partnership with services delivering tier 3and 4.

Youll co-ordinate all clinical activity in relation to sexual health and whereapplicable contraception, conduct STI screening and advising patients ofresults and conduct clinical examination and care planning for patients whorequire treatment. Youll be the point of care testing, venepuncture,microscopy and cryotherapy. As well as provide initial crisis intervention,counselling and appropriate referral for those clients attending the clinicwith relevant problems, termination of pregnancy, sexual identity, sexualassault, substance misuse and sexual dysfunction. Additionally lead health promotion activities to deliver proactive clinics andawareness campaigns; undertaking screening of individuals and populations andrespond appropriate to findings. Including offering information and support anddeal with enquiries from health professionals about Sexually TransmittedInfections, including HIV and AIDS, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C and engage withand develop the risk assessment process for PEP and PREP.

Supervisingnon-registered staff in areas related to sexual health.
