Job summary

You will embrace the challenge of working in a highly diverse environment, committed to becoming the safest organisation in the NHS. You will be registered with the NMC and have experience of working in an acute hospital environment. As a nursing associate in the day surgery unit you will be need to be flexible and able to adapt to meet the needs of the department day to day. This includes assisting with basic nursing care through to caring for your own caseload of patients.

You will be able to:-

Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills Deliver high standards of personalised, patient centred care Demonstrate a high level of compassion for patients and their relatives

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Qualified Nursing Associates to work within planned care on the day surgery unit.

The post holders will support clinical practice within the day surgery department:

Keeping the people who using our services as safe as possible through the use of sound clinical skills and effective risk assessments. Ensuring the best possible clinical outcomes by using up-to-date skills and adhering to evidence based policies and procedures. Ensuring the people using our services have a good experience by respecting, empowering and working in partnership with people throughout the care planning process Supportinglearning in both formal and informal settings in order to support the on-going development of staff in clinical practice.

You will be supported in this role and will have opportunities for continuing professional development in a busy and rapidly developing service.

Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC Register Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards GCSEs Grade C or above in Maths and English Language / New GCSE Grade 4-9 in Maths and English Language OR Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English or Equivalent

Desirable

Experience of working in day surgery

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice Understanding of the importance of following procedures and treatment plans Ability to communicate effectively Ability to support, supervise, assess and act as a role model
