WardClerk T&O B Ward Worcester

12 hours (6 per day) Set days - Thursday and Friday Cover

An exciting opportunities have arisen forcommitted, enthusiastic and highly motivated ward clerk to join our trauma andorthopaedic Side B ward at holder would need toprovide a courteous, efficient and professional ward clerk service, making avaluable contribution to support patient care from the time of admission,transfer or discharge. The successful candidate would be the first contactpoint for all ward visitors and members of the multi-professional team so goodinterpersonal skills are essential.

We are looking for a well organized, enthusiasticindividual to work within our dynamic team. You will need to be able to workflexibly and apply a methodical approach to a varying workload in what can be afast paced, pressurized environment. You should be self-motivated, haveexcellent communication/interpersonal skills and have the ability to work onyour own as well as part of a busy team where the work can be deadline driven.

Previous NHS clerical experience is desirable andadministrative and keyboard skills would be an advantage. The successfulcandidate will need an excellent telephone manner and must be able to dealefficiently with members of the public and all disciplines of hospital staff.

Main duties of the job

Useof manual and computerised systems including PAS, Bluespier, EZ notes, Sunriseto:

Maintain andcheck patient registration details and demographic information

Retrievepatient information

Record theissue and receipt of records on the PAS case note tracking system

To check EZnotes and ensure they are available for planned TCIs

Maintain patient EZnotes folders by:

Filing reports / correspondence / forms etc in an ordered manner,to facilitate the efficient retrieval of such documentation on request.

Repairingcase notes folders

Makingup new folders, registering patients

Orderingstationary suppliers when required

Inputtingdate for audits

Job responsibilities

To work with Consultants and junior medical staff, Nurse Practitioners, otherhospital staff both within the department and outside, other healthcareprofessionals, medical secretaries, health records staff, PALS.

External:GP surgeries, other hospitals, patients and relatives / carers. This post involves handling medical notes andVDU work. Individuals may be exposed toviolence and aggression. The post holder will provide a comprehensiveadministrative/receptionist service to the department. This will include making appointments on computerised systems inaccordance with agreed policies and procedures, filing of notes and inputtingdata required for audits.
