We are looking for a Band 7 Healthcare Scientist to work with the Radiology Physics Department at University Hospitals Dorset. STP trainees will be considered for appointment and B6 and supported to complete their training.Base Location: Poole Hospital, cross site working will be required Interview Date: TBC Main duties of the job Quality Assurance of ionising radiation imaging equipmentGuidance and advice in radiation protectionTeaching and training of other staff groups and trainees/apprenticesParticipate in IRR & IR(ME)R audits Working for our organisation Our values define who we are as #TeamUHD. Detailed job description and main responsibilities To understand the role in more detail please read the full job description and person specification documents which are attached to this advert Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria A good honours degree in Physics or related subject and / or equivalent knowledge / experience.Relevant M.Sc. and successful completion of the STP training scheme in an appropriate specialism, or equivalent.Registration with the HCPC Experience Essential criteria Minimum of 3 years working / training in appropriate specialism/s within Medical Physics (includes the STP scheme or equivalent).Knowledge & experience of appropriate ionising radiations legislation, QC and optimisation techniques. Technical Skills Essential criteria Able to use Excel, Word, Access etc. to set up documents, spreadsheets and databases and extract information. Able to use specialized software to analyse complex data. Much of the complex imaging equipment used is software based. Knowledge Essential criteria Understanding of risks arising from a range of imaging techniques.Understanding of patient and staff risks arising from ionising radiation exposure Language Essential criteria Able to speak English as necessary to undertake the role
