Roles & Responsibilities_ Solution Architect
Architecture and Delivery (Design and Review)
Design, Develop and review the Architectural and Design Artefacts to assure they are fit for purpose and will meet the needs of developers and those involved in future systems maintenance, including documenting any gaps and the actions required to resolve them.
Review the delivered code/configuration of all components of the solution and document if it is fit for purpose, defining any areas of concern and how they may be addressed.
Working with the Project Manager and Lead Architect review the technical activities remaining and help identify the type and number of resources required to address them and the likely timeframe for completion.
Solution Assurance: Support the Project Manager and Lead Architect in providing ongoing assurance of the delivery of the project through to completion including:
Keeping Architectural Documents up to date and where there is significant variance ensuring any resubmission to governance is performed.
Reviewing designs and other material produced by the delivery team to ensure that it is fit for purpose and aligns with the agreed architecture.
Ensuring any architectural / design issues uncovered in (1) are addressed working alongside the project manager & lead architect.
Providing the primary point of technical escalation for the project.
Attending all meetings, workshops as required by the Project Manager and/or Lead Architect.
Scope – Solution Architect
A Discovery, to consider the following ask from the business:
Highly secure system, containing sensitive and external personnel data
o Identify appropriate DDTS support levels
Automate workflows/minimise manual activity
Able to integrate with other systems:
o SOP (and its replacement in Synergy)
o Systems for Joiners, Movers, Leavers (to be identified in Discovery)
o Engagement with UKSV: investigate options for integration
Customer-facing portal access
o Not citizen-facing but externally available to specific organisations/people (see: Is affecting & Further Information)
o Allows personnel to manage their application (limited access rights)
Defra Personnel Security access to track/manage/verify vetting
o Other activities, reporting etc. to be defined in Discovery
Cutover plan (inc. any possible migration) from existing service
o Secure migration: investigation as to what is possible
o Communication plan for in-flight applicants and business process change
Integrate new service with, and update affected business processes:
o New business process(es) for the service
o Updates to Joiners, Movers, Leavers processes
o Any other processes identified in Discovery
Training identified and delivered for Security users
