Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 GI Clinical Physiologist to join our GI Physiology team to cover a period of maternity leave. Our multidisciplinary team sits within the GI Physiology Unit at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) and is comprised of clinical scientists, clinical physiologists, specialist nurses, physiotherapists, operating department practitioners, colorectal surgeons and gastroenterologists.

You will perform highly complex diagnostic tests including high resolution oesophageal manometry, 24 hour pH/impedance studies, wireless pH studies, hydrogen and methane breath testing and anorectal physiology. You will analyse data and provide high quality reports. You also be required to contribute to the day-to-day running of the are a tertiary referral centre receiving referrals from a wide area. We work closely with consultants in gastroenterology, upper GI surgery and colorectal surgery and you will attend and contribute to upper GI and pelvic floor MDT meetings as well as providing physiology investigations in one-stop consultant clinics.

You will be highly motivated, enthusiastic and have experience of delivering high quality patient care. You will possess excellent communication and organisational skills.

Job responsibilities
