About the role
We are recruiting for a Senior Project Manager to work within the Technology Services sub-directorate at NHS England.
The purpose of Technology Services is to deliver Simple, Safe and Smart Solutions across the NHS.
The aims of Technology Services are to:
Deliver the benefits of cost reduction of the operating cost of technology. Enable cost reduction across NHSE by streamlining processes that have become fossilised in legacy technologies. Enable better decision making in NHS England through a Modern Digital Workplace. Deliver a resilient and safe national technology infrastructure across the system.We will change the relationship with the frontline, focussing on delivering the commodity-based capabilities that are needed, building platforms and communities to enable us all to benefit from innovation, and doing so upon robust, cost-efficient platforms and infrastructure.
The purpose of Infrastructure services is to ensure our services and systems are hosted effectively, securely and efficiently. We require an experienced and highly motivated Senior Project Manager to help us achieve this objective.
As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for:
Managing the set-up and delivery of projects, working with colleagues and subject matter experts on the strategic planning, scoping, design and delivery. Manage the whole lifecycle of a project, reporting on progress and managing risks and issues, escalating where necessary to the project board. Develop appropriate, robust, information systems to ensure that all project documentation is stored and used effectively (PID, dashboards, highlight reports, risk and issues logs etc). Interrogate and analyse, sometimes highly complex, information to support the delivery of clear project reporting and project outcomes. Write and submit regular project reports for the programme board showing progress against milestones, status, resource requirements, issues, risks and dependencies, making recommendations where a range of options may exist. Responsible for the delivery of specific projects agreed with NHS England and provide subject matter expertise around project management. Plans, supports and facilitates a range of projects within a programme structure or across a range of programme structures, where the post holder may need to consider interdependencies and mitigation of issues and risks.
About you
Some of the skills and experience we're looking for:
Extensive experience of managing projects using methodologies such as Prince2 and/or Agile. Experience of working with diverse stakeholder groups, and demonstrable value management skills. Demonstrable experience in using project management tools to deliver medium to large projects on time, including but not limited to; Risk Management Timeline Forecasts Requirements Gathering Tracking of Benefits Realisation and Lessons Learned Ability to adapt project management approach to suit the portfolio and resources available As this role is based within Infrastructure Services the below experience and / or understanding would be beneficial:Infrastructure technologies and principles, operational processes, and cyber security principles Working within the ITIL framework, and an understanding of value principles.
