A great opportunity has arisen for a permanent, Band 4 Medical Secretary. The post holder will manage the office administration of the Consultant and other medical staff within the Early Intervention service (EIS), providing an efficient and effective high quality secretarial service to support medical staff in maintaining a safe, efficient and effective clinical post holder will be required to work flexibly in response to the needs of the networks administrative service, providing cover to departments on various sites as directed by their Line Manager to ensure continuity of a quality service provision.Evidence of a good general education is essential together with good communication skills and excellent organisation ability. You must have fast keyboard skills. Knowledge of working within the NHS will be an advantage and computer skills will be successful applicant will require a mature, flexible approach and the ability to work within a busy team. They will also be expected to use their own initiative and work unsupervised to ensure the effective coordination of duties.
hours per week, Mon/Wed/Fri (Please note that this position has the potential to transition into a full-time role of hours per week in the future)
Main duties of the job
The medical secretary is a key member of the Mental Health Network. They will assist in the provision of effective and efficient services by providing a comprehensive professional secretarial and administrative service to a team of consultants and junior doctors within Mental Health Liaison team, liaising effectively wherever necessary with other team members and external agencies.
In order to carry out the duties to a professional standard, the medical secretary will be expected to utilise a range of technical skills which may include word processing, use of email and other IT skills, audio transcription and medical/pharmacological terminology. He/she will also be expected to employ highly effective interpersonal and communication skills and will be required to work frequently without direct supervision. The confidential nature of all work concerning patients must be understood and safeguarded and the particular sensitivities to mental health issues respected.
The post holder will be required to cover for absent colleagues when and where necessary for short periods of time such as annual leave and short-term sickness
