The role:

Were looking for a highly experienced Ornithologist (or Ecologist with an ornithology specialism) to join our internationally renowned client, based out of one of their South West offices (Exeter, Bristol, Cardiff or Birmingham).

What you'll be doing:

  • Planning and undertaking bird surveys for local and national infrastructure and housing development projects, including liaising with internal clients
  • Drafting and reviewing technical reports
  • Preparing tenders for undertaking surveys, including breeding and wintering bird surveys
  • Contributing ecological input to a multi-disciplinary design workshop to discuss mitigation, and make recommendations appropriate to the ecological impacts.
  • Line managing and mentoring junior team members

About you:

To apply for this role you'll need:

  • 10+ years experience as an Ornithologist / Ecologist with Ornithology specialism
  • Background in impact assessment for EIA and HRA, and a broad range of reporting
  • Experience undertaking breeding and wintering bird surveys in line with best practice guidance for medium to large sized projects
  • Experience undertaking impact assessment in relation to bird populations on and off site for a variety of projects across multiple sectors.
  • Project management, leadership, fee proposal and tender experience
  • Line management and mentoring experience
