Job summary

We are looking for a full time Pharmacy Technician to join us within a very busy but very welcoming Surgery.

The Surgery is forward thinking and dynamic in its approach to General Practice and has recently been named as the top performing surgery in the country for the roll out of the cholesterol lowering drug Inclisiran.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for supporting the Practice in medicines optimisation, ensuring all data and safety issues are implemented/

You must be self motivated and be able to work independently as well as within a team.

You must also have the ability to be able to prioritise the workload.

You will be fully supported by an experienced team who actively encourage professional development.

The Surgery has 2 Partners, 5 salaried GP's, a fantastic support team of Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Paramedics and a dedicated administration team.

The Surgery itself is situated in the coastal town of Felixstowe and the population is expanding rapidly.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Reconcile the medications of patients whose care is transferred back to primary care in a timely and effective manner liaising with patients and other providers to ensure patients receive appropriate medication on discharge

Work with pharmacy service team to develop safe, effective, and efficient systems for the repeat prescribing of medication

Work with pharmacy service team to develop and implement changes to medicines in line with MHRA alerts, product withdrawal and other local or national guidance

Manage requests to prescribe medication from specialists in line locally agreed guidelines

Refer patients to their community pharmacist for support with using their medicines and through the Community Pharmacy Consultation Service

To respond to medication queries from patients and staff in a professional manner referring to the appropriate clinician in accordance with protocols and personal and professional boundaries.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

Experience of working within General Practice. Good knowledge of SystmOne. Ability to prioritise and be autonomous. Confidence to speak with Clinicians, colleagues and patients.

Qualifications

Essential

NVQ3 or BTEC You should be registered with GPHC You should have completed the CPP Pathway.
