JOB TITLE: Grounds Maintenance/Landscaping Operative

LOCATION: Devonport Royal Dockyard

CONTRACT: Full Time – Permanent – 40 hrs per week

PAY RATE: £14.00 per hour

This position is a full-time role working Mon-Friday, working flexible hours to suit the operation.

ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE

As a Grounds Maintenance Operative at ABM UK, you will be responsible for the general maintenance and upkeep of various outdoor areas within the Dockyard. Your duties will include mowing lawns, trimming hedges/bushes, maintaining all walkways within and also external areas ensuring all outdoor areas are free of weeds, also ensuring that outdoor spaces are clean and presentable. You will also be required to operate a range of grounds maintenance equipment safely and adhere to health and safety guidelines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Mow lawns and trim hedges
  • Keep walkways clear of debris
  • Perform general repairs and maintenance tasks
  • Operate grounds maintenance equipment
  • Follow health and safety guidelines
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and effective grounds maintenance

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience in grounds maintenance or a similar role is preferred
  • Experience with using petrol two-stroke grass/hedge cutting equipment is preferable
  • Experience with ride on grass-cutting equipment and tractor driving is preferable
  • Knowledge of plant care and landscaping practices
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform tasks that require bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Full clean UK driving license

QUALIFICATIONS

  • PA1 and PA6 Spraying Licence
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • IPAF Licence (desirable)
