Smith+Nephew is hiring the Category Manager, Facilities and Real Estate .
The Facilities & Real Estate Category Manager (CM)) is responsible for managing expenditures, strategic planning, and initiatives within the Facilities & Real Estate Category. Experience in MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Operations) and CAPEX procurement is beneficial.
Key responsibilities include managing stakeholder and supplier engagement for services such as Janitorial, Pest Control, Waste Management, Office Supplies, Utilities, and Archiving & Shredding. The CM supports the category strategy, leads sourcing projects, influences specifications, and oversees supplier performance and innovation.
The role is based in the Poland or UK and reports directly to the Facilities & Real Estate GCM.
What you will be doing?
Develop and Execute Category Strategy : Support and implement the Global Category Strategy for Facilities & Real Estate; Communicate category-specific strategies to stakeholders.
Set and Achieve Targets : Contribute to functional objective setting with the Global Category Manager; Deliver specific elements of category targets.
Supplier and Market Analysis : Collect and analyze supplier, market, category, and internal business data; Identify and mitigate key supplier risks with stakeholders.
Lead Sourcing Activities : Lead proactive sourcing activities for the Facilities & Real Estate Categories; Execute projects based on category strategies and support annual business planning.
Manage Supplier Relationships : Manage key supplier relationships as per the category segmentation process; Support innovation with strategic suppliers in line with company objectives.
Monitor Performance and Compliance : Resolve supplier performance risks and issues promptly; Ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures.
Manage Contracts : Create, apply, complete, and review major contracts for the category; Ensure negotiated contracts are communicated and consistently applied.
Implement KPIs : Support the implementation of consistent KPIs for the category; Ensure projects align with targeted goals and timelines.
What will you need to be successful?
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, law, or a related scientific/technical field; Strong preference for CIPS or similar professional qualification.
Procurement Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a procurement environment.
Business Engagement & Influence: Ability to align Facilities & Real Estate Category Strategies with key stakeholders; Successful implementation of key category initiatives focusing on cost, risk, and quality.
Value Delivery: Demonstrable achievement of annual category savings targets; Increase spend under management and support the S&N innovation agenda.
Supplier Performance & Risk Management: Proactive supplier relationship management; Identify, mitigate, and manage critical category risks with dynamic plans.
Fluency in English.
