Graduate Clinical Psychology Faculty

Widener University is currently seeking a 12-month non-tenure/clinical track faculty member in the Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology. This role reports to the Director of the Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology. The person filling this role will be a doctoral level psychologist who is or plans to become licensed. As a clinical faculty member in our Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) program, the person filling this role will coordinate our practicum placement process as well as teach, advise, and participate in department/program service.

The Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology is a generalist clinical program and our faculty represents a diverse array of theoretical orientations. We will consider applications from candidates representing any theoretical orientations, but strongly encourage applicants with expertise in cognitive behavioral and associated third wave modalities to apply. We welcome applications from candidates who would also bring specific expertise in the broad array of areas typical to clinical programs, including psychological assessment and intervention. All candidates should be prepared to demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, as well as how this understanding is woven into their work. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to) :

Essential duties:

Practicum placement:

Coordinate student participation in doctoral practicum placement process (approximately 50% of job responsibility): Provide support to students to guide engagement in practicum site selection, applications, preparation of materialsMaintain documentation of student placements and student attainment of competencies.Maintain policies and procedures in accordance with accreditation requirements and distribute these regularly to stakeholdersSupport students and supervisors in the navigation of conflicts at placement sites.Consult on development of remediation plans for students who struggle to meet placement competencies; provide remediation support when appropriate.Collaborate with Internship Training Director to coordinate support of supervisors and of faculty around common placement issuesCollaborate with placement directors in other health- and mental-health related programs at the University.

Teaching:

Teach 1 3-credit course per semester (6 credits per year) in doctoral level clinical psychology program, including developing syllabi, learning objectives, assignments and rubrics, examinations, other course materials, and managing Canvas course site to support courses. Collaborate with faculty in ongoing curriculum development. Demonstrate competency in knowledge and skills in teaching as evidenced by supervisor, peer, and student evaluations. Serve on 3-5 dissertation committees per year, as workload permits Serve as faculty examiner on 3-5 Final Clinical Oral Exams per year Maintain regular office hours; guide or support students who reach out for assistance; identify students who are struggling and need extra attention or support to be successful (use email, phone or other means of communication).

Service:

Attend university academic events as required in faculty handbook Attend University, College and Program faculty meetings. Participate in student recruitment and admission activities Serve as academic advisor and/or mentor for 6-8 students in doctoral program; provide advising as appropriate to student organizations. Participate in professional activities and service to the University, School, community by participating in faculty governance/committee work as assigned/elected. Engage in service to the profession via membership in professional organizations, participation in professional conferences and professional/community-based service activities.

Scholarship/Practice :

Engage in scholarly work related to area(s) of interest. Maintain clinical

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):

Required:

Psy.D. or Ph.D. in clinical or counseling psychology. ABD candidates may be considered if the doctoral degree will be completed by August 2024. PA license as a psychologist. Supervision toward licensure can be provided to qualified applicants who have completed all other Pennsylvania requirements for licensure as a psychologist. Evidence of clear integration of issues related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging into clinical work, research, and/or teaching

Preferred:

Teaching experience in Psychology in higher education Experience as a site supervisor or faculty member overseeing practicum placement Experience providing clinical supervision
