Job summary

We are currently recruiting for a permanent Band 6 Specialist Physiotherapist to join our Specialist Learning Disability team. The post holder will be required to provide a highly specialist Physiotherapy Service to adults with complex developmental disorders; undertaking assessment and evidence based physiotherapeutic treatment programmes, management and interventions for a wide variety of needs.

You will deliver a high standard of care using an holistic, person centred approach on a daily basis in the most appropriate location in the community, and providing clinical leadership, teaching and supervision to members of the team and other professions.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties: o To be clinically responsible for those accepted onto the caseload and to organise this with regard to clinical priorities, evidence based practice and ensuring most efficient use of skills, time and Use high level clinical reasoning skills to triage referrals based on clinical need and direct to the most appropriate provision intermediate care, other AHP's or other domiciliary Undertake comprehensive assessments for clients with complex needs using verbal and non-verbal communication, highly skilled physical examination and manual assessment techniques. Interpret clinical and non-clinical information using advanced clinical reasoning skills to inform and agree physiotherapeutic goals and the physiotherapy treatment plan with the service user/ Respond to enquiries from carers, other professionals within health, education, social services and the voluntary and private sectors, giving appropriate advice and guidance for the service user. This may involve challenging or requesting changes to treatment programmes/care plans set by other To implement, evaluate, analyse and adjust treatment programmes according to the service user and carer needs. The frequent use of encouragement, motivation, negotiation, reassurance skills as well as discussing with service users/carers their progress will be essential.

Quaifications & Training

Essential

Diploma, BSc or Masters in Physiotherapy. Registration with HCPC. General experience across wide range of physiotherapy care groups.

Experience

Essential

Experience working with people with learning disabilities, ASD and complex needs. Experience of managing and prioritising a complex caseload.

Desirable

Experience working in the NHS.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Essential

Able to present information in an understandable way for people with communication difficulties. Ability to present information for service users with a range of ability to understand and act on instruction. IT skills to record patient and organisational information and to write reports and advise on reasonable adjustments and especially accessible materials.
