The English and Modern Foreign Languages Department at Brockenhurst College are looking to recruit a Lecturer in English Language and Literature on a part time, permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £31,000 to £41,217.00 pro rata DOE . (Unqualified teachers £24,547 to £31,000 pro rata DOE).

Responsibilities as our Lecturer in English will include:

Plan, deliver and assess in a way that is inclusive for all learners and allows all learners to make progress and achieve. Ensure the delivery of high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across GCSE English Language and A-Level English Language and Literature. Deliver 4.5 hours of taught lessons per class per week and 2 additional hours of ‘Independent Learning’ tasks that can be tracked for A Level and 3 hours of taught lessons per class per week for GCSE English Language.  Develop the effectiveness of teaching, learning, and assessing strategies within English Language and Literature. Develop teaching and learning resources for English Language and Literature students. Develop and update the interactive learning platform. Communicate effectively with learners utilising our interactive learning platforms. Ensure learners are taught through a variety of activities.  Develop teaching and learning resources.  Monitor learner progress both in and out of class.  Monitor KPIs such as levels of attendance, retention and outcomes on English Language and Literature. Monitor learner satisfaction and continually seek ways of improving the service we provide.

As our Lecturer in English, you’ll ideally have:

Degree or equivalent professional qualification in relevant subject area to include English. Excellent teaching skills. Able to manage learners and learning effectively. Able to develop effective learning resources. Knowledge and understanding of current developments in English Language and Literature A level. Supportive and positive approach to teaching and learning.
