Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced nurse to join our Adult CNS team within the Inherited Bleeding Disorder Service. The Haemophilia Centre is the only Comprehensive Care Centre in Wales , aiming to deliver multi-disciplinary, patient-centered care for all patients with inherited bleeding disorders and their families in South, Mid and West Wales. The Centre works closely with the MDT in Swansea, offering seamless care, irrespective of the site.

The Cardiff MDT comprises of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, social workers, psychologists, and play therapist supporting delivery of holistic care to the IBD patient and their families and incorporates working closely with adult, paediatric, and research IBD colleagues.

This opportunity has come at an exciting time since WHSCC (Welsh Healthcare Specialised Commissioning Committee) have supported and approved a commissioned Inherited Bleeding Disorders business case involving nursing and medical staff expansion at Cardiff and Vale, assuring the service over the next 20 years and enabling patients to be seen at home, or closer to home.

Potential applicants should have sound clinical nursing skills that facilitate development of the service in Cardiff and across the network.

Main duties of the job

The Cardiff Haemophilia Comprehensive Care Centre for Haemophilia Haemostasis and Thrombosis provides clinical and laboratory services for patients with bleeding and thrombotic disorders. The service provided is a whole life service to patients and families with inherited bleeding disorders, providing a regional and local service across the network. The centre is enrolled in a number of multi-centre national and international clinical trials which are ongoing.

The job role will involve working alongside the band 7 Adult Haemophilia Clinical Nurse Specialist, adult, paediatric and research CNS's and nursing teams and the wider MDT. The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of care to patients with inherited bleeding disorders, in both in-patient and outpatient settings in Cardiff and Vale UHB. They will deliver specialised care to patients with inherited bleeding disorders through the Haemophilia centre outpatient service. There is an expectation to visit some patients in their own home to deliver treatment.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
