Role Description

Reader Volunteer 

Location: Leatherhead 

Time Commitment:  Flexible days

We are looking for a volunteer to befriend and read to someone we support at our service in Leatherhead. You will provide companionship to someone we support by spending time with them, visiting them and reading to them. Skills required To love to read To have a good sense of humour, love to chat and be a good listener To be punctual and reliable To be kind, empathetic and patient To be able to deal with information in line with our data protection and confidentiality procedures To be able to assist when necessary with sighted guide/orientation Please note that you will need to be  over the age of 18  in order to apply for this role. Upon receipt of your application, a member of our friendly Volunteering Team will contact you for an informal chat and to explain about the next steps. To ensure the safety of the people we support, we require a DBS check and two satisfactory references before a volunteer role is confirmed. As you will be volunteering directly with vulnerable individuals, you will also be required to undertake safeguarding training, as well as any training which is specific to the role.
