Off Track have a pivotal role in providing a safe and dependable railway for all users of the NW&C rail network, whilst protecting and enhancing the natural environment.

Let there be no doubt that maintaining the rail network is a huge job. Our Works Delivery Team is up to the challenge, and we do it with pride. Covering everything from Vegetation Management, Fencing Installation, Access Point Upgrades, to Level Crossing renewals, we keep the network and its assets working safely and reliably. 

About the role (External)

You will provide critical support to the Works Delivery Lineside team by assisting the Team Leader in the delivery of all our projects across the route. Our team comprises arborists, fencing experts, and safety critical staff with whom you will be expected to align and knowledge-share. You will be trained to a high level in all aspects to ensure we continue to deliver excellence and maintain compliance with the huge range of standards we adhere to.

The role is largely site based, with some office time to write up reports and update our filing systems. You will be regularly checking the quality of work and safety compliance of our contracted staff, whilst actively promoting safety with confidence and sincerity. You will be expected to appropriately prioritise your work, assist in planning, and provide accurate reports and scopes of work with great attention to detail. Heading up de-veg and fencing teams on both day-works and possession-shifts will also form part of your remit.

You will also be responsible for keeping a range of systems, databases and records up to date. Crucially, you will assist the management staff to further your own skills and in turn, develop the team to its full potential. The technician position requires you to inspire the trust and respect of the people around you and stimulate production on the ground.

-Knowledge of utility arboriculture in the railway environment.  -Good understanding of boundary measure requirements and experience in physical installation. -Experience of directing and leading teams whilst promoting safe working behaviours. -COSS and experience of being PIC (019) -SSSTS Qualification or equivalent -Knowledge of CDM and how it is applied within the railway industry. -Knowledge of the associated off-track standards.
