Help build B.C.’s new medical school from the ground up

At Simon Fraser University's School of Medicine, we envision a medical education system where students and residents learn as part of a team in primary care and other community-level settings, in patient-centred environments, and with a curriculum that considers social, environmental and prevention contexts. As we establish the school in Surrey, B.C., our growing relationships with the local community, Fraser Health Authority, First Nations Health Authority, physicians and Indigenous partners will help us to meet the diverse health needs of the communities we serve and improve access to primary care throughout the province. About the Role

The Curriculum Coordinator for the School of Medicine plays a key role in supporting curriculum development and administration. They will provide assistance to curriculum committees, faculty, and academic units by organizing committee meetings, preparing reports, and managing sensitive information. Their day-to-day would involve managing curriculum mapping software, coordinating the submission, review, and approval processes for new and revised curricula, and ensuring compliance with academic policies. Additionally, the Curriculum Coordinator will facilitate the development of training materials and processes to ensure efficient curriculum implementation and review with all changes accurately reflected in relevant systems.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced in managing complex administrative processes in academic settings. They possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in using curriculum management software and ensuring compliance with academic policies. To be successful in this new position with a growing team, the candidate will be adaptable, collaborative, and adhere to confidentiality in an evolving environment. 

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Education, or a related field, with three years of relevant experience in curriculum development or curriculum processing, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Strong administrative, logistical and operational support skills to plan, coordinate, and organize curriculum-related activities. Understanding of curriculum development processes, educational terminology and curriculum management software. Proficient in quality control, accuracy and consistency for document management with adherence to standards. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, organizational ability and attention to detail.
