Job description

Following the retirement of the current headteacher, the deputy headteacher of Asterdale Primary School will become acting headteacher for the 2024-25 year, with a substantive appointment being made in Spring 2025. This means that the school is seeking to appoint a deputy headteacher for the 2024-25 year. This role gives the opportunity to have a significant impact on 226 children’s lives and work alongside the current leadership team in further positively shaping Asterdale’s future. Asterdale continues to be on a clear journey of recognisable improvement and this appointment provides opportunity for the school’s next Deputy Headteacher to build on these achievements made to date as well as providing additional leadership skills and ideas working alongside the acting head.

Asterdale Primary School has large extensive grounds and well maintained, modern buildings. The school has built excellent relationships with the local community and has high established engagement with parents. The school has 226 pupils of whom around 30% qualify for free school meals and a similar proportion of pupils have SEND support. You can find out more about the school here. • Be in possession of excellent communication and inter-personal skills, with a high level of integrity and strong moral purpose that aligns closely with the ethos of the school and the Trust.
• Bring additional teaching expertise to further grow our teaching team’s skillset
