This is an exciting opportunity to become a Band 6 Occupational therapist in the A-rated Stroke pathway at Doncaster and Bassetlaw teaching Hospitals (DBTH). 

DBTH comprises of 3 geographical sites (Doncaster, Bassetlaw and Montagu Hospitals) and the successful applicant will rotate through all sites delivering high quality care as part of a dedicated MDT in Stroke and Neurology. 

Rotation Include:

- Hyperacute stroke unit - Doncaster

- Inpatient Stroke Rehabilitation - Montagu Hospital / Bassetlaw Hospital

- Inpatient Neurological outliers - Doncaster

Successful applicants will work with the MDT to provide specialist Occupational therapy to patients of the highest quality across a 7 day rota. There is full senior support with structured supervision process in place.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 6, the post holder will play a key role in on-going service review, developments and delivery across the Trust’s stroke and neurology pathways. There will be opportunities to participate in quality improvement and innovation projects. This is an exciting time to join the stroke pathway at DBTH with significant development opportunities to improve the current rehabilitation facilities using augmented technology to enhance patient experience and care at the Montagu site.

We have robust CPD and appraisal processes in place and you will be supported to develop your clinical and non-clinical skills.

The successful applicant will have 18 months experience working as a Band 5 Occupational Therapist in addition to post graduate experience in Stroke and Neurology.

The post holder will support the Clinical leads, Therapy manager and existing Band 6 Occupational Therapists with the operational management of Occupational Therapy across the stroke and neurology pathway. They will contribute to the education, training and development of Band 5 Therapists, Therapy Assistants, multidisciplinary staff and students. The role will include quality improvement and service evaluation including audit.

As part of a regional stroke delivery network the successful applicant will develop links with other Therapists within the Region.

Qualification / Training

Essential criteria

HCPC Registration Evidence of Post graduate training in specialist area Degree / diploma in Occupational therapy Hold a full driving licence and have access to own vehicle Portfolio evidence of relevant experience IT skills

Desirable criteria

Specialist training in cognition , perception and normal movement Basic first line management Training / leadership training Student Accreditation Course

Experience

Essential criteria

Post graduate experience working within Stroke and neurology Experience working in MDTs Experience of supervision/appraisal of junior and support staff. Range of experience across different specialities 18 months experience as a Band 5 occupational therapist

Desirable criteria

Experience of participating in service development and quality improvement projects Experience of professional ‘cross boundary’ working i.e. with physiotherapy
