Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom Newcastle University Full time

Salary: £29,605 to £30,487 per annum, with progression to £32,982

Newcastle University is a great place to work, with excellent benefits. We have a generous holiday package; plus the opportunity to buy more, great pension schemes and a number of health and wellbeing initiatives to support you.

Closing Date: 03 May 2024

The Role

This role sits within The Bubble Foundation charity, raising funds to make life better for children born with immune deficiencies. The role is designed to harness the potential for raising funds for and awareness of the charity through patient and family communication, the general public and especially through digital platforms. You will work independently to develop the charity’s fundraising activities, enhance our social media platforms and look for new opportunities to attract donations through physical and digital means.

The Bubble Foundation has been an official charity since 1993, with the aim to support families of children with immune deficiencies requiring bone marrow transplantation and to fund lifesaving research and medical equipment. We do this through providing direct support to children and their families, investing in revolutionary research, and raising awareness of the children who are in isolation on the children’s bone marrow transplant ward. It is an independently registered charity working in partnership with Newcastle University to fund research carried out within Newcastle University and The Great North Children’s Hospital.

We offer a hybrid and flexible working model. A laptop will be provided as the main working week will be spent working from home, one day a week you will be present on ward 3 of the Great North Children’s Hospital and there is hybrid working space available at our Newcastle Upon Tyne campus that has fantastic transport links and state of the art facilities. This role sits within the Professional Services umbrella of the University and you will report to Sarah Kendall, Deputy Head of Operations, for professional support and development. For day-to-day activity, you will report to the Bubble Foundation Vice Chairman, Professor Andy Gennery, who has been with the University for over 20 years working within the field of Paediatric Immunology and HSCT research and training.

You’ll be joining a very small team, working independently with support from the charity Administrator, the Treasurer, and will report regularly to the Bubble Foundation Board of Trustees. In addition, where required, you may need to oversee the management of volunteers during event and large activities, and working hours can be flexible, including evening work for pre-arranged events.

To apply for this position, we will need your CV and ideally a personal statement outlining how you are suitable for the role. Please focus your personal statement on the below points using examples where possible:

•    Proactively seek new supporters in communities across the North of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Southern Ireland
•    Experience of dealing with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, resolving issues and queries independently
•    Experience in the creation of digital fundraising opportunities, for example, through events and networking.

Both Full time and Part time applications will be considered.

This Post is tenable for 2 years initially.

Further information can be obtained by contacting Roz Scott via roz.scott@newcastle.ac.uk
