A rare opportunity for a fun, innovative and pro-active Highly Specialist Childrens Occupational Therapist has arisen. You will be working in an integrated childrens therapy service which consists of Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, therapy assistants and administration staff. As part of a multi-disciplinary and multiagency team, you will provide services for complex children with neurological and neuromuscular pathologies in a range of different clinic and school settings.

We are an innovative service and run discipline specific training days across Solent to share best practice and clinical expertise. You will be expected to provide clinical supervision and training.

You will need to have excellent organisational and communication skills, problem solving skills and be able to quickly gain a good rapport with all. Collaborative working with a range of professionals is an important part of this post.

Main duties of the job

To work autonomously, being accountable for direct delivery of the OT service within the specialty, including implementation of local and national policies and procedures and the evaluation of service delivery.

Critically analyse complex situations and clinical data to inform decision making, to offer best physical and emotional support to the child/young person and their families/carers.

Working in partnership with young people, and their support; provide specialist, evidence based OT interventions to a caseload to ensure good clinical outcomes. The post holder will be required to work with the client to assess their needs using specialist tools and identify goals for the OT intervention, to evaluate the outcome and maintain clinical records. This will require the use of advanced clinical reasoning skills, investigative and analytical skills as an autonomous practitioner.

To facilitate the delivery of therapeutic interventions with children and young people that have unpredictable physical limitations and difficulties with understanding, due to physical, psychological, cognitive, or social situations

Identify the potential for service development in collaboration with Team leads, assessing risks and service gaps to inform quality improvement and maintain safe service delivery.

Identify workforce and skill mix needs and participate in the recruitment and development of staff.

Provide professional expertise and clinical leadership, acting as a resource to other professionals.

We have been working with other local NHS Trusts to create a new organisation, bringing together all community, mental health and learning disability services from across Hampshire and Isle of Wight. Subject to approvals, the aim is for the new Trust to be formed by July 2024.Project Fusion is the name for the programme to create the new combined NHS Foundation Trust. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust will be bringing the services into a single organisation will result in more consistent care, more equitable access to services irrespective of postcode, and a more sustainable workforce and services. Qualifications

Essential

Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy Current Health Care Professional Council registration as an Occupational Therapist Evidence of study at Masters' level or working towards this qualification relevant to area of practice

Desirable

Member of Royal College of Occupational Therapy Member of an appropriate Special Interest Group

Experience

Essential

Post-registration experience in relevant setting Able to demonstrate ability to make decisions in complex & unpredictable situations & deal with verbal or physical aggression on occasions Proven Clinical Leadership & presentation skills Able to take personal responsibility, work autonomously & manage time effectively

Desirable

Experience of practice placement education & providing teaching/training for a range of student/staff needs
