What are we looking for?
The candidate
We are looking for a motivated individual with both technical and commercial skills and with a drive for excellence. The successful candidate should:
Demonstrate at least 10 years experience in a Financial Institution, Rating Agency, Boutique or Corporate in the areas of Rating Advisory, Capital Structure Advisory, and ideally any financing product. Command very high skills in financial modelling and corporate finance, specifically credit analysis. Demonstrate high command of English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Spanish, French, German or Italian is valued. Knowledge of hybrid capital structuring is valued. Be able to clearly display his analysis and thoughts in professional documents aimed to be presented to either external or internal clients, and present them in a fluent and interactive manner. Ability to work in a team, both leading, training and coaching junior resources, as well as interacting with product partners of the same seniority level. Overview
About the Area
Within Debt Advisory, the Ratings & Capital Structure Advisory advices clients in ratings and generally all debt related matters, this includes:
Formal ratings advisory in first time ratings or material corporate events (such as acquisitions, recaps or corporate restructuring). Capital structure advice (debt capacity, dividend policy, holdco debt implications, minorities implications, debt at parent vs subsidiary etc…), helping elevate level of dialogue with clients. Partnering with M&A and / or financing products (corporate lending, DCM, ECM, project finance) to understand implications of any given transaction, to optimize structure of a potential transaction or to suggest key structure implications. Additionally help discussing with Risk deparment complex situations or transactions as required.The position
This position will have the following content / responsibilities:
Be responsible for an assigned client portfolio. Within such portfolio perform all analysis and presentation tasks to advice such clients on ratings, capital structure and generally all debt related matters, in order to elevate BBVA’s franchise and level of dialogue; as well as contribute to and help increasing business awarded to BBVA by those clients. Present, engage with clients, and work with them in transactions, within the scopeoutlined above. Engage with internal origination partners such as Corporate Lending, Project Finance, Project Finance Advisory, DCM, M&A, ECM to help origination efforts. Engage with Risk to support BBVA’s business case when appropriate, and specially in complex transactions or situations. Collaborate with Head of Debt Advisory to define strategy and client approach. Be up to date in sectors / countries assigned, and extrapolate and apply general trends to individual cases in order to spot business opportunities. Be up to date in Rating Agency methodologies, and develop relationship with analysts. Use and update all internal tools for recording activity, fees, staffing etc. Train and coach the junior members of the team.
