We are seeking a permanent full time Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry to join our Early Intervention Team (EIT) in Stafford.

The Early Intervention in Psychosis Team operates across South Staffordshire, with staff zoned in Cannock, Stafford, Seisdon, Tamworth, Lichfield, Burtwood, Burton & Uttoxeter. EIT is a multidisciplinary community mental health service providing specialist treatment and support for people between 14 and 65 years of age and experiencing , or at considerable risk of experiencing psychosis.

The EIP service has a strong ethos of hope and the whole team are committed to enabling recovery through the provision of individually tailored, evidence based interventions and support to service uses and their families/carers.

Main duties of the job

You will provide medical leadership within a collective leadership model.

This post enables dedicated Consultant input into community care and treatment within the EI pathway, with the facility for rapid assessment of referred patients, flexible review of complex patients and timely discharge in liaison with General Practitioners as per the EI commissioned service.

Clinical duties

Ensure in conjunction with the MDT, regular effective review of the care of patients in the clinical pathway- via individual assessments, follow up appointments, MDT meetings and sometimes the Care Programme Approach (CPA) Be the Responsible Clinician for service users in the pathway who are subject to Community Treatment Order (CTO) where applicable Provide evidence based care Be recovery focused Provide cross-cover (emergency and prospective) for other Consultant Psychiatrist colleagues by mutual agreement Person Specification

Education and Qualification

Essential

Primary Medical Degree CCT or equivalent in General Adult psychiatry, or be within 6 months of achieving Full GMC Registration including Licence to Practice, or eligibility for licence to practice, if coming from overseas Approved Clinician (AC) status or eligibility to obtain within 3 months of appointment

Desirable

Additional qualification in a clinical area, management or education

Experience

Clinical leadership/ management experience at any level
