The post holder will be responsible for providing engineering support assisting in the delivery of high-quality equipment management within the trust. The post holder will be committed to providing best practice solutions to planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and equipment asset management. The post holder will help provide effective medical equipment support to the various wards and departments of the trust.
Based in the Medical equipment department, you will be expected to support other core areas as required.
Main duties of the job
The Medical Equipment Department is looking for a Mechanical Technician with a background preferably gained in a complex electronic services or healthcare environment to join the Equipment Team.
The work is diverse and includes the maintenance of complex equipment associated with a hospital trust, including monitoring, diagnostic, surgical systems, etc. Additional training will be given to the successful applicant to enable them to fully meet the person specification.
The vacancy will be based at our Winchester Hospital site, however the role will include work at Andover War Memorial Hospital and on any of the Trust sites.
The successful applicant will require good communication skills. An empathetic approach to staff and patients, be adaptable, willing to learn new skills and be able to work independently as well as part of the team. The applicant must have the physical ability and agility to carry out manual handling.
Must have a current full UK driving license.

Essential criteria
Electronic engineering NVQ 4 minimum
Desirable criteria
Emergency first aid training Safe working practices Specific medical equipment training courses - in last 4 years
Experience & Knowledge
Essential criteria
Completion of a structured training programme in electro-mechanical engineering for a minimum of three years Good awareness of health & safety legislation relating to electronic equipment testing
Desirable criteria
Experience of working in an acute hospital environment Experience of working on preventative maintenance schedules and asset management systems
Skills & Ability
