Job summary

The Coggeshall Surgery has an opportunity for a receptionist to join our busy practice team on a part-time basis for hours per week, on a Friday , with the flexibility to cover more hours when required.

In this essential front-line role at the practice, receptionists help make a positive impact on our local community by helping patients to access the right services, assisting with keeping health records accurate and up-to-date, and ensuring that appointment bookings are well-managed.

We would welcome applications from organised, adaptable, and friendly individuals, who are keen to help us provide high levels of customer service. Some flexibility is required, as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.

Main duties of the job

Greeting and directing all patients; Making appointments and giving out appointment cards, where required; Accepting, issuing and handing out prescriptions, letters, completed forms, specimen bottles, etc.; Dealing with requests for information, and managing problems and complaints; Advising patients of practice procedures; Registering new patients; Answering the telephone, promptly.

Coggeshall Surgery provides GMS healthcare to the small town of Coggeshall and the surrounding rural area to whom we dispense medication from our in-house dispensary. We have received a rating of Outstanding from the CQC and work closely with the other 5 local member practices of the Colne Valley PCN and the associated ARRS staff. The surgery has an enthusiastic and accomplished partnership and encourages a calm, responsive, person centred culture.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

Excellent communication skills, with a clear and polite telephone manner; Ability to work in a polite, confidential and discreet manner, respecting patients at all times; Experience of working with the general public, being sensitive and empathic in distressing situations; Confidence to work as part of a team and ability to "think on your feet"; Strong IT and administration skills;

Desirable

Previous medical or healthcare receptionist experience.
