Overview of the role:

JCB Group Engineering requires a Principal Polymers Engineer. We are looking for a Polymers Specialist Engineer to join our Group Engineering team and support the development of new and existing products using polymer materials and technologies. As the global lead in Polymers technology, you will work closely with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure that polymer components meet the required performance, durability, and cost criteria. You will assume the role of the group subject matter expert in polymers and rapid prototyping in both polymers and metals and provide your expertise to other engineers and stakeholders in the business.

Your Responsibilities as a Principal Polymers Engineer:

· Oversee and lead technical reviews of NPI projects to identify and mitigate project risks associated with the use of polymers in order to reduce the time to market.

· Line manage one other Engineer and develop their career, as well as growing the overall capability of JCB Engineers globally in the area of polymers.

· Run and manage the rapid prototyping facility at Rocester and contribute to the strategy and development of this exciting technology.

· Select and specify polymer materials and processes, considering factors such as mechanical properties, environmental conditions, manufacturing feasibility, and cost.

· Troubleshoot and resolve polymer-related issues and failures, using root cause analysis and corrective actions.

· Research and evaluate new polymer materials and technologies and propose innovative solutions for product improvement and cost reduction.

· Collaborate and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, such as design, manufacturing, quality, procurement, suppliers, and customers.

· Keep up to date with the latest developments and trends in polymer engineering and related fields.

About you:

· Bachelor's degree or higher in Polymer Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.

· Relevant experience in polymer engineering, preferably in the construction equipment or automotive industry.

· Knowledgeable in polymer materials and processes, such as injection moulding, extrusion, thermoforming, etc.

· Experience of managing a team or capable of immediately having reports.

· This is a global role and you will have a global perspective.

· Demonstrate that you have a sense of urgency and are on top of technology trends.

· Proficient in CAD and CAE software.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving and communication skills.

· Willingness to travel occasionally to support product development and testing activities.

· Has a sound understanding of adhesives, ideal joint design, and manufacturing requirements.

· Good communication and presentation skills.

· Comfortable managing supplier relationships
