About the Role:
Working within the Information Security, Governance, Risk and Compliance (IGRC) team as an Apprentice you’ll develop skills and knowledge relating to the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the Drax Group Enterprise and Operational Technology environments. You’ll also develop skills and knowledge within the industrial controls’ environment.

Over a 4-year period you will complete a BSc (Hons) Cyber Security Technical Professional Degree apprenticeship, and you’ll develop a broad understanding of security frameworks, controls, environments, software, hardware and data to apply appropriate security design, controls and risk to best secure these environments. All the while you’ll be earning an income and building your experience.

An apprenticeship offers a comprehensive mix of theoretical and practical knowledge and training, but also the opportunity to work within the industry and gain experience by applying those new skills in a real-world security environment, so as you develop and advance your understanding of cyber security issues and technology solutions, you’ll get to put theory into practice on a daily basis and learn the skills you need to begin your career as a security professional 

What skills or experience do I need 
To be successful in this role you’ll need strong communication and presentation skills, both oral and written, and you’ll be able to apply analytical and critical thinking skills when considering complex situations and problems. 

You’ll be able to respond to change in a flexible and positive manner including in time-sensitive and high-pressured environments, and you’ll have working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications 

As this is a role that supports the operation, you’ll need to feel comfortable on site at the power station working in an operational environment when needed. You’ll also need to be prepared to travel to other sites within the business on an ad-hoc basis, and to Demontfort University in Leicester where you will conduct your educational elements.

Am I eligible? 
To be eligible for the opportunity listed above, you will need at least GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English at Grade C, 5 or above AND one of the below;

2 A Levels, one in IT or a relevant subject, and another, both at B or above, OR 
A level 3 qualification at either Distinction or Merit (120 credits), OR
Equivalent HNC (120 credits) 

You’ll be individually assessed on your eligibility, qualifications and work experience by the academic institution.
