Job summary

The Secondary Care Finance and Planning Business Partner team in the NHS England Finance and Planning Directorate is now recruiting for Senior Partner.

work closely with government to agree NHS funding; ensure the NHS lives within its annual budget; support innovative programmes that improve the care and experience of NHS patients or people using NHS services; set out the financial and performance priorities the NHS should be delivering each year; report how much the NHS has spent on providing services each year; explore how the NHS can make the best use of its money; look at how spend on building or equipment can improve the care and experience of people using NHS services. Working as part of a team to support work across a range of major programmes and National Directorates.

A major element of this role's portfolio will be supporting the UEC and Elective programmes more specifically but this may extend to other programmes including Diagnostics. There will be the opportunity to work on a range of different topics within the wider secondary care business partner team which will also include monthly reporting.

As a Senior Partner, you will deliver a full range of business partnering support to budget holders and service/programme delivery managers. A major element of your portfolio will be supporting the UEC and Elective programmes more specifically but this may extend to other programmes including Diagnostics.

Contributing high quality financial analysis and support to a range of outputs including NHS Planning, business planning, in-year reporting, the Annual Report and Accounts and to parliamentary and National Audit Office inquiries. Supporting budget holders in the national UEC and Elective Care programmes with budget setting, forecasting, monthly reporting and annual accounts; and undertaking financial modelling requirements Creating financial models to help to scope and cost proposed new initiatives in the UEC and Elective programmes for system planning, the Ten Year Plan and/or Spending Reviews; Representing finance at programme and project boards and deputising for other members of the team as required; Supporting the senior team within the Secondary Care business partner team Supporting the wider CFO directorate in helping to build a more diverse finance and planning team.

Qualifications

Educated to degree level and part qualified at CCAB/CIMA level, fully qualified AAT or have an equivalent qualification in a relevant specialism ( payroll).

Knowledge

Financial transaction processing, controls and KPIs A clear understanding of how finance adds value to the wider organisation and how your role contributes to that. The operational and financial relationships between DHSC, NHS England and individual provider and commissioners in the NHS
