Job summary
We are seeking a Band 4 Technical Instructor to provide a high standard Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy service to all patients.
You will undertake skilled and specialised support work which involves clinical techniques requiring higher level technical skills to assess and treat patients with complex conditions within their own homes.
You will work unsupervised with individual patients, making alterations to treatment programmes according to protocols, reporting back patient progress and informing the OT/Physiotherapist of any relevant issues.
The successful candidate will need to be able to work effectively as a team member including delegating appropriate therapy tasks to Band 3 Support Workers.
You will receive regular supervision and take an active role in attending our Technical Instructor in service training programme.

Main duties of the job
To ensure clinical care delegated by the responsible clinician is consistently of high standard and conforms to the treatment plan as documented by the clinician. To undertake initial assessments of non-complex patients as deemed appropriate by a qualified clinician. To treat patients individually or in a group in a variety of settings without the direct supervision or presence of an OT/Physiotherapist, including the patients home. To work unsupervised with individuals or groups of patients, implementing, monitoring and progressing treatment programmes according to protocols. To assess capacity, gain valid & effective consent and work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment. To instruct carers and relatives, providing direction and guidance on a range of therapy and mobility activities as part of own clinical work or as directed by the clinician. To ensure own patient/treatment documentation meets Trust, British Association of Occupational Therapy, Chartered Society of Physiotherapy & departmental policies, protocols, guidelines and standards, using computer and/or paper systems. To communicate accurate, timely and relevant information to members of the MDT. To manage and prioritise own caseload to ensure an effective and efficient service is offered. To assist patients before, during and following treatment, ensuring their safety, comfort, privacy and dignity; which may include toileting.
