Job Description

Please note this is a fixed term contract ending 3rd January 2025. Working 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday 08:30-16:30.

The purpose of this role is to complete, to the required quality standards, the analysis of samples for a given method using laboratory techniques. Further, assist in the efficient day-to-day operation of the laboratory, main duties to involve:

Registration, preparation, and analysis of samples as required. Adhering to documented procedures for all aspects of laboratory work, ensuring that all relevant information concerning samples is recorded, that samples are handled correctly, and that all necessary records are maintained.  Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed throughout the day.  Maintain turnaround time at > 95%, ensuring that daily targets are achieved. Provide a high level of internal and external customer care. Responsible for ensuring that UK health and safety legislation is maintained and helping to ensure that the working environment is kept in a clean and tidy manner.  Ensure personal protective clothing equipment is worn in accordance with the Health & Safety policy. Work with the team to drive the laboratory forward through continuous improvement. Undertaking all tasks within the main laboratory appropriate to the level of training given to you by senior analysts and management.  To assist through operating best practice in order to meet the requirements of the UKAS accreditation standard. A flexible approach to work will be required to assist other departments as and when required.  Assist with continuous improvement within the chemistry department. 

Qualifications

5 or more GCSE’s Experience in working in part of a team Good organisation and time management Good verbal and written communication skills Ability to self-motivate
