We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer with experience in complex enclosure design to join our team at Ultra Maritime SMaP (UK). In this role, the candidate will collaborate with specialists from other engineering disciplines and provide mechanical design expertise to support business opportunities. This includes conducting feasibility studies, developing technology, creating concept designs for new products, and preparing bids and proposals.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
Generating concept design proposals and feasibility studies to support product development programs
Carrying out elements of product design
Contributing to the development of engineering excellence within the business
Providing mechanical engineering expertise in support of future business opportunities
Essential:
A degree or higher in mechanical engineering
Broad knowledge of all aspects of engineering, such as systems, electrical, electro-mechanical, and rotating machinery
Experience in manufacturing methods applicable to electrical enclosures, such as metal fabrications, castings, welding, machining, and corrosion protection
Proficiency in 3D CAD software, preferably Solidworks
Desirable:
Good knowledge of materials
Good knowledge of best practices in design lifecycle processes, such as gated design phases and design reviews
Experience in designing to strict requirements such as shock, EMC and thermal
Strong communication skills and confidence in presenting in front of customers
All candidates must be eligible to achieve the relevant security vetting level applicable to the role.
